Debian JP Project secretariat and leader election
This term of Debian JP Project board of director's term of office was already ended by March 2005, but we failed to elect next leader, because vote result was unexpectedly tie. We planned to vote again, but because of several reasons, such as vacation of condidates and/or lack of time due to Linux Conference 2005, FSIJ annual general meeting, LinuxTag 2005 and DebConf5.
Current project secretariat (knok) was exhausted, so he transfered the duties to me. So, I took over secretariat's duties temporarily, summarized current situation and rescheduled the election. I also set some new rules in case of some problems. So, We'll have next board of directors by September.

After SEA&FSIJ seminar, we moved to China Quick at Sendagaya and discussed about next version of snapshot.debian.net (USB 300GB*8 RAID5, which will be ready soon) and next next version of snapshot.debian.net (3U 15*SATA disks available case with Athlon64*2). We also discussed compliancy about organization around free software and open source software, some of them probably would not do clerical job correctly, such as deducting tax from income at source or so.
Anyway, today's topic (about debian/sarge and debconf5) was postponed by Typhoon (but it was not so terrible weather actually at that day) and today we had terrible weather with heavy rain and thunder. possibly, debian/sarge or some of us cursed, or it might be reaction of very nice weather at debconf5...

ftp-master hinder us from supporting ruby1.9 in debian
I've heard ftp-master rejected libdb* packages for ruby1.9.
This means, we can't use any berkeley db in ruby1.9, so that debian is not suitable to develop future ruby package. For example, gonzui requires ruby1.9 for better support (ruby source parser is available on ruby1.9), but it requires libdb4.2 or later, so that debian is not good platform to run gonzui.
I feel regret at ftp-master's wrong decisions.

mhc 0.25.1+20050120-2 upload and goodbye ruby1.6
mhc is the last one of my fix needed of debconf dependency. The fix of debconf dependency is trivial. Use ${misc:Depends}.
Anyway, other concern exists in mhc, ruby1.6 dependency. Currently, ruby1.8 is the default version of ruby in debian and ruby1.6 is considered as obsoleted. The reason mhc depended on ruby1.6 is that gemcal uses libgtk-ruby, which is only available for ruby1.6. For ruby1.8, there are libgtk2-ruby. The gtk2 API differs from gtk, so it is not so easy to port gtk ruby script to gtk2.
With Ruby-GNOME2 API Reference and try and error, I finally ported gemcal and mhc-gtk.rb to gtk2.
What I need to do is:
- change "require 'gtk'" to "require 'gtk2'", of course.
- Need "Gtk.init" call.
- In gtk2, text string should be UTF-8.
- Gtk::WINDOW_TOPLEVEL renamed to Gtk::Window::TOPLEVEL
- Use Gtk::TextView instead of Gtk::Text. get_text method is renamed text method. signal would come through its buffer.
- Gtk::WINDOW_DIALOG disappeared. Inherit Gtk::Dialog instead.
- no more set_delay method in Gtk::Tooltips
- Use Pango::FontDescription instead of Gtk::Font and use set_font_desc instead of set_font.
- Gtk::CList is disappeared. Use Gtk::ListStore, Gtk::TreeView and Gtk::TreeColumnView
- appending to list has been changed. append method of Gtk::ListStore returns Gtk::TreeIter so that you can add new entry to it.
- Use Gtk::Image instead of Gtk::Pixmap
- set_usize method is deprecated?
- border_width(n) method is deprecated. Use set_border_width(n) instead.
Thus, mhc-utils no longer requires ruby1.6 and libgtk-ruby. mhc-utils 0.25.1+20050120-2 depends on ruby1.8 and libgtk2-ruby.
Goodbye ruby1.6!

hotplug 0.0.20040329-25 uploaded
Before mass bug filing on packages that are blocking use of cdebconf, I tried to fix my packages.
hotplug is one of such package. In short, it can easily be fixed by changing debconf dependency with ${misc:Depends}, so that dh_installdebconf set proper dependency.
I looked over bug reports and fixed some trivial bugs. Most impact in this upload is that NET_AGENT_POLICY is deprecated by this version, instead net.agent use ifupdown's "allow" mechanism (Bug#303383).
